He Leads Us into All Truth

Scripture: 1 John 4:13
Devotional Series: Holy Ghost Guidance
Teaching: Holy Ghost Guidance pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-04-11) by Pastor Star R Scott

What a great privilege we have to be the sons of God.  In 1 John 4:13 it says, “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us his Spirit.”  The Holy Spirit has a ministry of bringing guidance and instruction to us.  Not only is God accessible, but the Holy Spirit is constantly initiating communication.  If you will listen, God will speak to you.  I’m not only talking about confirming our sonship.  I’m talking about spiritual guidance.  We want to go out and research everything and that’s fine, we do need to check into these things.  But some of us will research this and that to the nth degree, every possible aspect.  We’ll want to know, let’s say we’re buying a vehicle or something, what are the warranties on it.  What are the latest complaints coming from Consumers Digest and what people are having to say about this and say about that?  But you know what?  If you get quiet the Holy Ghost will say, “Don’t buy that.”  And you don’t have to waste all that time researching it; amen?  It’s just like, “No.”  “Well, have you researched it?”  “No, just spent time with Dad.  He said, ‘Don’t get it,’ so I’m not getting it.”  He gives the Holy Spirit, Peter says, to those that obey Him; amen?  If we’ll obey God, the Spirit will speak more clearly.  We’ll hear more of that voice than we’re hearing when we’re living in our minds, instead of in communion with the indwelling Spirit of God, Who leads us into all truth, praise God!

Over the years, when contemplating accepting speaking engagements, the Lord would usually speak to me and tell me if it was okay to accept or reject.  If I was to reject, the Lord usually would speak to me and tell me, “No, I don’t want you doing that,” or whatever.  He leads us into all truth.  How sensitive we need to be to that omniscient, omnipotent Person who indwells us.  That we might glorify our Father.  He enables us to bring forth fruit that remains that our Father might be glorified, the Scripture says.  Men will see these works and glorify our Father which is in heaven.  That’s all the working of the Holy Ghost in us.  Do you listen to that voice?  There is a way to determine between that voice and your voice.  Your inner voice which, tragically, most people think is the voice of the Holy Ghost.  We think that whatever we want is the voice of the Holy Ghost.  “Let’s see, fast and pray?  Go to the beach?  Yeah, I just feel the Lord’s leading me to the beach, praise God!”  There are times that might happen but if we’re spending more time at the beach than we are praying and fasting maybe we’re hearing the wrong voice.

The voice of the Holy Ghost never exalts you.  The voice of the Holy Spirit will always give preeminence to Jesus and bring to our remembrance the things that He taught.  Do we realize this great truth, that the life of Jesus, the greatest teachings were those things that He did, not what He spoke?  The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of all prophetic utterance.  The bringing forth of the truths of the Word of God.  We have that little thing that people came up with “What would Jesus do?”  Well, that’s a good question to ask.  I’ll tell you exactly what Jesus would do.  He would speak the words of His Father and not His own words; amen? That’s what Jesus would do.  He would finish the work that the Father sent him to accomplish. That’s what Jesus would do.  He would humble himself.  That’s what Jesus would do.  He would prefer others, that’s what Jesus would do.
