The Paraclete Gives Solace and Power
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:8Devotional Series: Holy Ghost Guidance
Teaching: Holy Ghost Guidance pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-04-11) by Pastor Star R Scott
The Lord is good; amen? Great and greatly to be praised. What a privilege in this hour! We pray and believe God for doors of utterance to be opened, and we’re thankful for everybody that’s been prayerful. We’re excited about what the Holy Spirit has been doing in our midst and the preparation for the coming of the Lord. We’re talking about the fact that we need to prepare for persecution. If we’re going to prepare for persecution, there is a need for us, as a body, to be unified. To make sure that we’re standing as one because a house divided against itself cannot stand; amen? The need for us to unify because one puts 1000 to flight and two puts 10,000. So, how important it is for us to guard that precious gift of unity that the Lord is working in our midst! And remember that the attack is going to come in individual homes. If he can cause conflict in individual homes then, of course, that disunity within the individual home becomes part of a corporate leaven and a problem that has to be dealt with.
So, each of us is learning about walking in humility, preferring one another and how vital that is. If we’re going to prepare for persecution, there’s no greater way than to make sure that we’re full of the Holy Spirit, amen? We’re going to need that power to stand in these last days. He says even when we come before authorities, don’t plan what you’re going to say, the Spirit will give you the words that you need to speak at any given moment. That supernatural awareness that God’s there, working with us, working in us, working through us, praise God!
.
What great confidence that He, the great Paraclete (that’s the Greek word for “comforter”) just doesn’t come to give solace. Comfort comes in knowing that we have that great power as a resource; amen? It’s comfortable to know that the Almighty God dwells in us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. That’s comforting! “My Dad can whip your dad,” your father, the devil, as it pertains to the world’s system. But so many times, we forget. We don’t utilize what’s available to us. We are indwelt, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost; amen? The fact that He’s residing within us in power. Acts 1:8 shows us when Jesus began the preparation and was ascending back to the right hand of God the Father, He said, “I want you to go to Jerusalem. I want you to tarry there and wait for the promise of the Father, for you will be filled with power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and you will be witnesses unto me,” amen? Think about that. The need for us to have that subsequent work of redemption. This is beyond redemption.
