Is There No Intercessor?
Scripture: Isaiah 59:16Devotional Series: Effectual Fervent Prayer
Teaching: Effectual Fervent Prayer pt. 3 (SUN_AM 2023-04-02) by Pastor Star R Scott
We are talking about people who will do what God asks them to do. He will show Himself in the lives of people that will obey Him and those that will get out of the boat. They are people who will go out in simplicity according to His commandments, not take any provisions for themselves, and live by faith.
Wherever they went they spoke peace upon those households. They had no secondary clothes or any other means. They were living absolutely by faith, and they came back rejoicing because demons were subject to them. They were healing the sick and casting out devils as Jesus commanded them to do. He said, “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). Those same men who moved in that simple obedience are those same men who, later, were arguing who was the greatest among them. They could not cast out one devil.
Simplicity is doing what God tells us to do. A man, a preacher, was being overly critical of Kathryn Kuhlman and mocked her in his heart. Another man was sitting right next to that preacher, and Miss Kuhlman pointed her finger right at him and said, “Sir, I perceive that you are living in adultery.”
To show that it was not a random or general statement, she went on to speak specifically about some of the circumstances. She told him that this was his last opportunity to get right with God. The man fell on his face and repented. What makes the story interesting is that the critical man, before she did that, heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say, “The man next to you is living in adultery. You need to challenge him and give him an opportunity to repent.” And he did not do anything. After that occurred, the Holy Spirit spoke again to this man who asked, “God, how You can use someone who is this weird and this strange?” The Holy Spirit said to that preacher, “I can use her because she does what I tell her to do.” We do not have to be the most articulate. We do not have to have any natural boldness or propensity to put ourselves forward. If we will make ourselves available to God, He will use us and make us witnesses.
We are epistles read of men. He will move in our hearts and give us compassion for the people that surround us here who are dying and going to a devil’s hell. If we are obedient to do what He tells us to do and start praying for these people’s souls as if we mean it, He will show Himself mighty in our midst. When we come together and begin to intercede, He will hear and answer our prayers. That is the secret to praying and being willing to do the will of God, to pray the will of God. Those that keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight… It is His commandment that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another. We continually love one another and intercede for each other to finish this course. We intercede for those who have apostatized and left this place. We have compassion and love for those we do not know. Love and compassion for the unlovely will begin to burn in our hearts. We will begin to pray effectually, and God will add to the church as such as should be saved.
Father, we ask You to move upon our hearts in this hour, so that we would begin to stir ourselves in the confidence of the prayer of faith. Lord, we pray that we would be a people ready to go forth fully arrayed in the armor of God and that we would take this sword of the Spirit, this shield of faith, and pray. Father, we thank You for the answers to our prayers. We thank You for Carol’s quick raising and for preserving her life. We rejoice in Your goodness, Lord. Hope and confidence are being infused back into the hearts and lives of many. There is a stirring in our hearts, Father, with compassion. “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor…” (Isaiah 59:16). Lord, give us a hunger for the lost. Father, begin to send in those that are broken, those are that are lonely, those that are defeated, those that are unlovely, those that are in bondage to Satan, and those whose eyes are blinded lest they believe the light of the glorious gospel. Send for the light. We are the light of the world that they may believe and be delivered. Father, it is Your will, and we ask it. Father, we ask as a people who keep Your commandments and who love one another. Let us be willing to offer up our lives to disciple others. Fruit that remains. We will give You the praise. We will give You all the glory, Father, in Jesus’ name, amen.
