Having Done All, Stand
Scripture: Ephesians 6:13Devotional Series: Effectual Fervent Prayer
Teaching: Effectual Fervent Prayer pt. 3 (SUN_AM 2023-04-02) by Pastor Star R Scott
We need to pray for wisdom on how to respond to the needs that are before us. We need to pray that the anointing and the power of God will keep us in this hour because, beloved, we have not finished yet. The main reason the church should pray is that God commanded us to pray. Let me say this. It does not matter if you ever get a prayer answered. God answers prayer. His promises are sure to a thousand generations.
“Why should I keep praying? I haven’t seen any answers to my prayers.” It is because the Bible says, “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). Look at the first verse. There is that admonition to always pray. We are to pray about everything. There is nothing too insignificant to include God in as it pertains to our lives; amen? We cannot be lords, even in the small things. We need to pray. We need to pray about everything and always. We need to realize that God wants to involve Himself in every area. As we pray, we seek His heart, and we seek His mind. God Himself, by His Spirit, causes us to enter into this communion. He brings us into an understanding of all things that are pleasing to Him so that we can do His good pleasure. We receive that admonition over the course that He sets before us. In prayer we see the victories being won through the eye of faith because of the promises of God. They are sure “to a thousand generations.”
Each one of us needs to make sure that we are putting on the armor of God that Paul talks about in Ephesians; amen? All that armor… We have heard it many times, but there are new folks among us. We will share a few of these principles. The armor that Paul tells us to put on is prayer armor. It is not something that is defensive. It is something that is offensive because our best defense is our offense. When it is in full placement upon our lives, that armor causes us, the Scripture says, to attack or to set out against the enemy; amen? As we possess the land and take it, we stand. “Having done all, we stand.” We do not give back any of that territory.
Many of us win great victories in our lives and then start relaxing a little bit, and Satan gets back that territory. Stand and having done all, stand. How did you get there? It was through prayer. How do you stand? It is through prayer, praise God. It is “practicing the presence of God.” If we ever needed to know the presence of God, this is the hour. That peace of God that passes all understanding... Isn’t it amazing how, at the moment you sense the manifest presence of God, fear vanishes? You cannot be in His presence, you cannot know His presence, and you cannot understand His presence and be in fear. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). It is all through prayer and being aware of His presence. It should become tangible when you are on the job, you are involved in a meeting, or some important project is taking place. You ought to be able to sense and be aware of God’s presence. You ought to know that He is going to give you wisdom for what to speak in those hours, that He might prosper you and send you forth speedily.
