God’s Armor Doesn’t Cover Your Back
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:9Devotional Series: Preparing for Persecution
Teaching: Preparing For Persecution pt. 7 (WED 2021-05-05) by Pastor Star R Scott
Here we stand. The seduction of Satan, the seduction of antichrist is upon us, so be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Don’t go out trusting in yourself. All of this armor equates to one thing, the aggressive representation of the authority of God’s Word in this hour. That’s what this armor is. This armor is for the purpose of being offensive. When persecution comes, the tendency’s going to be to try to run and hide. This is not a run‑and‑hide armor. Did you know there’s nothing in here that shows covering your back? Isn’t that interesting? “And when you turn and run from the devil, put on the back plate of fear and unbelief and self‑preservation.” Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might; hallelujah! Put on this whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the cunning, evil devices, “the deceits” is another rendering for that word, of the devil. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…”
We’ll pause there for just a moment and realize that so many of these people that are caught up into politics today, “We’re going to try to win America back!” All you’ve done is won back what belongs to the devil. He’s the god of this world. The money in heaven doesn’t say, “In America we trust.” There’s nothing here worth preserving, it’s all going to burn up in the final judgment. I’d rather not have these wackos in charge and this total disassembling of the Judeo‑Christian ethic on which the nation was founded, a form of law. I would much rather live under that. But let me remind you, the majority of the world does not have that blessing and privilege, and they’re doing just fine living for Jesus; amen? They’re living for Jesus without democracy. They’re living for Jesus without a First Amendment. So, as Americans, as we begin to shake ourselves a little bit and say, “You know, we were a little bit caught up in this place.” Any of you a little too caught up in this place called America, called the world? This isn’t our home. He’s gone and prepared a place for us, praise God! I’ve got a place waiting for me; hallelujah! Think about it. Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those of us who love Him. (1 Corinthians 2:9) Ah, we have a place called home!
Look at the relationship, here on earth, between a true Christian father and his son. When they’re moving inside the kingdom of God, moving by the grace, moving as two regenerated people, and the union and the closeness and the fellowship that brings. Do you understand the love that our Father has for us? If your relationship with Father is lacking, it’s your fault; amen? If you’d like to have a better relationship with Dad, it’s available. He will never leave you nor forsake you; amen? He sought you because He loved you; you didn’t seek Him.
