Find a Way to Persevere

Scripture: Matthew 26:36-45
Devotional Series: Preparing for Persecution
Teaching: Preparing For Persecution pt. 6 (SUN_PM 2021-04-25) by Pastor Star R Scott

We need to pray without ceasing and with all manner of prayer.  There’s intercessory prayer; there’s praying in the Spirit.  There is prayer of petition and many other aspects of prayer.  We need take up the Word of God and pray the Word of God always.  In every aspect of prayer, find Scripture and speak it back to God in faith, believing that His Word will not return void, amen?  He said praying always, with all types of prayer and supplication in the Spirit.  A supplicant is one who is there in desperation, one that is pleading for mercy.  A supplicant is one that speaks toward specific items of the moment.  We can pray general promises and God hears those and He will answer them according to His sovereign purposes, but supplication is when we come to God with specific verses about specific needs in times of emergency and necessity and we cry out to God and wrestle with principalities and powers and wait for that messenger to come through that warfare in the heavenlies and bring the promise, hallelujah! We faint too early, we get off our knees too early, we want to run and play too soon.  Beloved, we need to stay on our faces before God until we receive confirmation that it’s done.

You want to prepare for persecution?  You’re going to need some more time in the prayer closet.  You’re going to need more time wrestling with principalities and powers in the heavenlies.  If you’ve never fought with demonic powers in the prayer closet to where you’re coming to the place where you think you’re going to sweat drops of blood, then you don’t realize the severity of what we’re involved in when we are praying for our loved ones to be saved, when we are praying for souls to be reached, when we’re praying for God to open doors of utterance in this last hour for us.  Satan is not sitting back, he’s ramping up, the scripture says, the intensity is going to exponentially increase, iniquity is going to abound.  The enemy is going to come like a flood!  What are we doing to prepare ourselves?  Pray! Pray! Pray!  Our offensive weapon is prayer.  Set out against the enemy.  Our enemy is not flesh and blood; amen?  Our weapons are not carnal.  Pray, with supplication in the Spirit, watching thereunto with all perseverance.  Dear God, if there is anything we need more of, it’s perseverance in prayer.  If you prayed to the point where your mind is beginning to wander and you get tired and your flesh wants to get up and do something, then let me give you something to do, get up off your knees, get up off your face, lift your hands up walk around for a few minutes praising God and then go back to prayer; amen?  How badly do we want this?

What do we do to persevere?  How badly do we want to achieve this?  How earnest are we on hearing from God?  “Can you not tarry one hour with me?”  Listen, we’re coming down to the finish; watch and pray that you enter not into temptation.  That’s the admonition of the Lord, preparing for persecution, watch and pray.  Find a way to persevere, having done all to stand, stand, and those that endure to the end will be saved, praise God!  We need to ask God to stir us up by His Holy Spirit and give us the grace to do what’s necessary. We need to strengthen our arms and hands to war.  If we focus on watching and praying, maybe some of our loved ones would be returned and some of our desires and answers to prayer would manifest themselves.  If we abide in Him and His Word abides in us, we can ask what we will and it will be done, amen?
