Go Back and Tell John
Scripture: Luke 7:22Devotional Series: The Holy Ghost and Power
Teaching: The Holy Ghost and Power pt. 4 (SUN_PM 2024-10-20) by Pastor Star R Scott
I’ve prayed for the dead on a number of occasions. Some we’ve seen raised and some not. I’ve met one man who, to my knowledge of all of the men I’ve heard of or been with, saw more raised from the dead in his ministry than anybody else I’m aware of. We ministered with him over in Kisumu. He reminded me of Uncle Ikey, man, like one tooth, kind of, and had a great, great smile. Raised up under the ministry of T.L. Osborn. Was healed from, I think leukemia, but some deadly disease, and was left there to die, and God raised him up and used him mightily. We’re still ministering with his ministry over there right now. They were one of the first ones in Africa—all one thousand of their churches got all of our books, and they were just excited about what God’s doing. We’ve been able to go over and hold a couple of seminars, and we continue to work with them.
Raise the dead. Cast out devils That’s normal Christianity. And that’s the thing in our minds, I think—we seem to somehow come to the thought process that these are extreme things when they should be expected. Can you say that’s where you’re living? Can you say that’s your expectation? Do you really believe in who you are in Jesus? We read some of these things, and I know in my life, and I know in all of our lives, things are cyclical, and we have ups and downs, and there’s a season to different things. And you’ve all experienced gifts of faith that have come upon you to pray and believe, and you just knew that God was going to do it. How many of you are excited about those kinds of visitations, amen? You just know! I had it just the other day. I can’t even remember what the situation was, but someone had called and asked me to pray, and I said “okay”, and I just went to prayer. And it was one of those things where you just know. I’ve never quite responded this way, though. They came back and they said the report was absolutely now—they were clean from whatever the situation was. And my response to text back was, “I know.” I’ve never done that before. But I just knew. Don’t you love that, when God comes and speaks to you a word? We don’t serve dumb idols. Are we listening?
I know personally I’ve shared, that when I had Covid‑19 and they sent me home and they had me on this oxygen stuff, and I was supposed to be on it for some lengthy period of time. I don’t remember what it was. And I was sitting in there. I just wanted to pray and read some. And I was just sitting in the chair praising God, and the Spirit of the Lord just rose up in me. It’s funny that God can just speak certain words; they don’t have to be Scriptures always. Many times, they are. But I was laboring breathing, and the Holy Ghost just spoke to me and said, “And God breathed into him, and he became a living soul.” So, I just said, “Okay,” and I took a big breath, and I took the oxygen and set it beside me and never used it again, praise God. A word, a rhema from God. Are we listening? We talked about God’s preserving us when we don’t have sufficient faith. Aren’t you glad that Jesus is praying for us? Aren’t you thankful that He never sleeps nor slumbers, amen?
