Diligently Hearken to His Voice
Scripture: Exodus 15:25-26Devotional Series: The Holy Ghost and Power
Teaching: The Holy Ghost and Power pt. 2 (SUN_AM 2024-10-13) by Pastor Star R Scott
Beware, the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, the lust for stuff will choke this word of God out of our lives. “And faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The more the world chokes us, the less faith we have, thus, the less strength we have. I think many of us can be rejuvenated in these last days as we refuse all of the different lies that are being promoted today in society and be willing to step out and pour out our lives for God. Moses, whose eyes dimmed not, nor was his strength abated. Hallelujah! Why not us? Where did that come from? Well, you start hanging around God for 40 days and 40 nights with nothing else on your mind but Him. You think back, just about and flesh is flesh. There’s always been the same problems within the covenant people, within the church that we have today. They had carnal people. I mean, look how much is written about the carnality of the churches. Let’s not sit here and think, “The churches back then were perfect and had no problems. Why are we then struggling with these things?” They struggled with the same things we are, and in fact, failed more than we do at times, but they were rejuvenated every time they repented. God met them at that point of repentance and reinvigorated them in their faith and their divine energy; amen?
We need repentance. We need repentance for what the cares of this world have stolen from us, what the television and the cellphone has stolen from us, and spend time with God. We’ll begin to see the fullness of some of these great promises that they walked in. Why were they able to walk in that? They spent time in the presence of God. They had nothing else, God was their treasure, that pearl of great price, verse 25 says, “He made for them a statute and an ordinance, and proved them in this miracle. And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and will do that which is right in his sight, this is the verse (verse 26) for everything I just shared, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all of his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” “I am Jehovah Rapha, the Lord that heals thee, and if you will continue in obedience, I will continue to heal you, and deliver you.”
Now, let’s remember that sin in general is what causes us to have to contend with sickness and disease, not you do something wrong and God makes you sick. Our obedience keeps us in the covenant and in these promises, otherwise general consequences of sin, which is disease, will affect us. You got that? It’s important for us to understand. God is not punishing us or putting sickness on us because of any specific thing we may do. But when we begin to gravitate and begin to take on the philosophy of the world—we think like they think. We treasure what they treasure—it becomes a habitual part of our lives, it doesn’t even have to become the majority of the energy of ourselves, but in abundance, then, we’re going to have consequences to that. The Lord daily loads us with benefits. Amen? “Bless the Lord,”—Psalm 103—“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name…And forget not all of his benefits: Who forgiveth all of our iniquities; and healeth all our diseases.” Hallelujah! Amen?
