Whosoever Means Whosoever

Scripture: John 3:16
Devotional Series: Finishing the Race
Teaching: Finishing The Race pt. 2 (WED 2024-09-18) by Pastor Star R Scott

As we approach these last days, the Holy Spirit speaking through the apostle, says, “Here’s what it’s going to look like: lovers of themselves, religious.”  We have people searching the internet and listening to all of these new theological positions.  The preeminence of Calvinism in this hour that we’re living in!  Beloved, the Calvinist doctrine is not brothers and sisters who are in a little error.  It’s another gospel they are presenting.  I’m going to tell you very clearly right now—people have asked me, “Where do we stand?  What about our Calvinistic brothers and sisters?”  Anybody who preaches that Jesus did not die for everybody, that His blood was not shed for humanity in toto, who says everybody can’t come, only the elect can come, is a heretic.  The statements are heretical statements.  That is not the gospel.  Many of these men will stand and boldly make statements.  I mean, so boldly.  You talk about—if you’ve ever studied different guys, if you’ve ever read any of Arthur Pink’s writings—anybody heard of Arthur Pink?  If you’ve ever read any of Arthur Pink’s—he’s not a 5‑point Calvinist; he’s like a 12‑point Calvinist and those don’t even exist.  And here’s what they say: “Calvinism is the gospel.”  They will articulate those words from their mouths.  Well, Calvin’s not my savior.  Calvin’s not my pastor.  My Pastor leads me beside the still waters.  He restores my soul.  He prepares a table before me.  He brings me into the way of righteousness.  Surely goodness and mercy will follow me in these tasks all the days of my life.

Now, why are we saying this?  Because the danger is from religious people.  We’ve said it so many times and so many ways—this “other” Jesus that they’ve created.  God is just.  And it is not “just” to arbitrarily send somebody to hell and somebody to heaven just for His jollies.  Aren’t you glad that we serve a God of justice today?  Even in our sin nature, unregenerate people know injustice when they see it.  That that remains in them from being created in the image of God, even the residue after the fall where we are totally depraved, are still able, the majority, to identify injustice.  And there is nothing more unjust than that that they say about our loving Heavenly Father in “divine election, predestination” and the most damnable of it all, “limited atonement”.  And yet they are now the giants being raised up in our generation, respected for their scholarship.  They won the war.  You know who writes history is the one who wins the war.  They’re able to go back now and “historically” make Jesus anything they want Him to be.  They might even come up with a program like The Chosen or something and put it on TV.  A form of godliness.

Most of the Calvinists, many of them who are preeminent today, are not teaching the Gnostic perspective of Epicureanism: eat, drink, and be merry; live any way you want.  These are guys who preach holiness—holiness for “the elect.”  If we should be thankful for anything, it should be “whosoever will, may come.”  “God so loved the world,” not the elect.  What, do you think the Holy Ghost didn’t have enough ink to write “elect” on there?  God didn’t have enough ink as He’s writing the Book to go, “whosoever of the elect may come,” “God so loved the elect”?  What that means is what it said.  If you’re going to finish this race, be careful who you’re listening to going down the stretch.  You don’t know these people.
