We Need More Cleansing

Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23
Devotional Series: The Spirit of Truth
Teaching: The Spirit Of Truth pt. 3 (SUN_AM 2021-09-19) by Pastor Star R Scott

It’s an exciting thing as we’re coming into these last days.  The expectation of the continuation of that latter rain outpouring on the day of Pentecost 2,000 years ago, a continuation, of that manifestation.  It’s always been present, these gifts, these signs and wonders, the miracles, the baptism in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.  Even today in the Assemblies of God, they’re moving away from that foundational principle.  Oh, there are so many other manifestations and demonstrations of a Spirit‑filled man other than speaking in other tongues.  There absolutely are many other expressions; amen?  The greatest is love.  Not raising the dead, not casting out devils.  The greatest miracle is the ability of the indwelling Holy Spirit to cause you and me to be humble enough to love somebody else.  But the initial physical expression is speaking in other tongues.  In the house of Cornelius, when the Gentiles received the Holy Ghost, the testimony of Peter was, “The Spirit came on them as He did on us,” as they spoke in other tongues; amen?

Don’t despise, don’t ignore that prayer language, praying in the Holy Ghost.  This is the refreshing, praying in the Spirit, praise God!  He that prays in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God and gives thanks well, hallelujah!  There is no higher form of praise and worship than a Spirit‑filled man’s heart being yielded to the Spirit of God, the Spirit that only knows the mind of God and gives thanks well, hallelujah!  What a glorious gift!  What a glorious promise that was, that God would come and dwell in us!  “It is expedient for you that I go away.  If I don’t go away, the Holy Ghost can’t come and live in you.”  That’s why we can do greater things, not in magnitude, but in quantity and expression, than Jesus did, because each one of us is filled with the same power that Jesus was filled with when He carried out His earthly ministry.

We saw in our last teaching that Jesus, Himself, went in the power of the Holy Ghost.  It was necessary for Jesus to be empowered from on high.  “He that you see the Spirit of God descending and abiding upon, it’s He that I’ve sent to bring redemption,” praise God!  This is the prophet that Moses spoke of, “Hear him,” hallelujah!  That same Spirit now abides in each and every one of us that have been baptized, filled, with the Holy Ghost.  Yes, every regenerated man has the Holy Spirit residing within him.  But not every regenerated person has the fullness of the promise that they went to tarry for that gives us power to be witnesses.  The greatest witness we can be is as living epistles being read of men.  Behold how they love one another.  This is what the world will be moved by.  This is what will draw all men unto Him, as He’s lifted up in our midst.  So, we give Him all of that praise and all of the glory.

In the fifth chapter of Galatians, these different statements that are made concerning the working of the Holy Spirit.  Especially in these last hours as the bride is being purified for that Bridegroom.  This purification that’s taking place because He’s coming for a church that’s without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, hallelujah!  If that’s the case, then I would say we need some more cleansing.  Anybody willing to admit you need to clean your act up a little bit?  Aren’t you tired of that old man trying to express himself?  Doesn’t he know that he’s defeated?  The answer is, no, he doesn’t, because his lord and master is stupid enough to think he still has a chance.  I’m talking about the devil.  He’s not giving up either.  So, we’re going to war until the last breath we take.  But here’s the good news.  Sin will not have dominion over you; amen?  You may lose some battles, but you will ultimately win if you continue to abide in Him.  If you endure until the end, beloved, you will be saved, hallelujah!  In this last hour, there’s going to be a work of Satan like you’ve never experienced to try to get you to quit, to give up, to somehow agree with Satan that that old man has a chance.  He has no chance.  The victory’s already been won.  Jesus, through His blood, has cleansed us.  All the wrath of God that awaits those who do not hope in that finished work.  They will continue to be tormented, with doubt, fear, all of those things that should not be prominent in a man who’s full of the Holy Ghost and has the fruit of the Spirit manifesting itself in him.
