Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7Devotional Series: The Spirit of Truth
Teaching: The Spirit Of Truth pt. 2 (WED 2021-09-15) by Pastor Star R Scott
We’re going to be talking about the fruit of the Spirit here in just a moment, and that one aspect that’s on the beginning of the list: joy, praise God! Do you know what that joy is? The joy isn’t over, “I’m getting married,” the joy isn’t over a new house. The joy that is of the Holy Ghost, as Peter said it, it’s joy unspeakable and full of glory, hallelujah! Amen? It’s joy in our redemption; it’s joy in our sonship. If you don’t lose that, you can never be cast down, you will not move in fear, you will not move in depression, you will not be suicidal; you’re too busy giving thanks to God for eternal life, (hallelujah!) for adoption and sonship. “How are you doing today?” “Great, praise God! I’m the redeemed of the Lord, and I’m saying so.” Amen? “Saying what?” “So. I’m just saying so, hallelujah!”
Do you have that joy? “Well, I’ve got this family problem, I’ve got this financial problem.” Casting all our care upon Him, for He cares for us. “Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and our minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Hallelujah! The joy of the Lord is our strength.
Where we’re going with this is in this last hour, in preparation for the bridegroom coming. Oh, we need more of a move of the gifts of the Spirit. Yes, we need to see that outpouring of power that would cause us to become greater witnesses on the job and with our neighbors and share that there’s no other name under heaven but the name of Jesus whereby they can be saved. But I want to tell you something: the devil can counterfeit signs and wonders, but he can’t counterfeit the fruit of the Spirit.
You want the confirmation of that seal, the Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God? If we’re the sons of God, we’ll look like Jesus, we’ll talk like Jesus, we’ll love like Jesus loved. Is that His mandate or not? We are commanded to love as He loved. The fruit of the Spirit is love. We’ll talk about it more specifically. I stand firm upon the belief that if we allow the Holy Ghost in us to bring forth this Christlike fruit, the character of Jesus, we won’t have to worry any about signs and wonders. It’s just normal to those that love God and keep His commandments.
Father, we thank You for Your Word, and we just ask that You would stir our hearts. We ask that we would have that passion for Christlikeness to manifest itself in our lives. Father, I’m sick and tired of this old man demonstrating himself—the works of the flesh. We reckon that power dead. Sin shall no longer have dominion over us. To whom I yield my members as instruments to obey, his servant I am. I’m a slave to the Holy Ghost, I’m a slave to the lordship of Jesus, I’m a slave to the love of God Who from the foundations of the world proclaimed my eternal salvation. It’s Him that I live for, it’s Him that I work for, it’s Him that I represent. Give us the passion. Give us ears to hear what the Spirit says to the church, and for that, Father, we’ll give You all the glory, in Jesus’ name, amen.
