Is God Your Source?

Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:18
Devotional Series: Money: Not the Root of All Evil
Teaching: Money: Not The Root Of All Evil pt. 4 (SUN_AM 2024-10-06) by Pastor Star R Scott

Over the years, as it came to these facilities, a number of times, we completely emptied our accounts.  Some of you young people in here, some of you teenagers, you go up there and you get the use out of that gym.  I want you to know your mom and dad made sacrifices.  I, personally, emptied everything out of my savings accounts and checkbook to contribute, giving to building that gymnasium, had virtually nothing left.  When you abuse it, I don’t appreciate it, and neither does the Lord, because it’s an offering to Him.  Everything’s as unto the Lord and should be used for the glory of God.  Many of you have been able to experience and do those same things.  I’ve watched the faithfulness over the years.  I’ve seen many get blessed in return, and even like Job, ended up with multiple times what had been given.  Others, not necessarily.

God is not obligated.  He has not committed Himself to reestablishing riches that we’ve given for His kingdom and for His glory.  But we do know that when you offer the first fruits of all of your increase, when you honor God with your tithe, that He will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings that we cannot contain.  Those blessings may be, as I said earlier, some that are given directly into our hand or the blessings of others that are able to, through their abundance, bless us at different times.

Some of these examples we share, I just want you to know.  These are not examples of trying to put myself forward.  But we’ve got some young people, here, that have known nothing but abundance.  Everything handed to them.  We’ve been fortunate, over the years.  There have been people in all of these 50 years, some of you have been able to contribute and do the same things.  As I said, I just happen to be the one that has a microphone trying to bring forth these principles.  I’ve seen many of you do it.  Able to give away automobiles to people that are in the church that needed transportation at different times.  Thank God when we have those abilities; amen?  Thank God for those blessings!  That’s what the wealth is for.  There are a few of the people that have left the fellowship that absolutely hate us.  The financial aid that we were able to give for years to some of these people, and now they would like to see us destroyed.  What was that word again?  “With thanksgiving.”  Amen?

If Jesus said it’s virtually impossible, then let’s perk up our ears and go, “How can I use this income, this abundance, better for the glory of God?”  We started this study out with “God is our source.”  It’s the Lord that gives us power to obtain wealth to establish His covenant; amen?  The blessings of the Lord make rich and add no sorrow with them.
