Skinny Cows are Coming

Scripture: Genesis 41:1-4
Devotional Series: Money: Not the Root of All Evil
Teaching: Money: Not The Root Of All Evil pt. 1 (WED 2024-09-25) by Pastor Star R Scott

I wanted us to look at the great treasure and the great wealth of contentment.  Because if what happens, happens—if what I think is going to happen, happens, many of us that have stuff in abundance, it’s going to go away.  Are you prepared to be content?  Will it in any way influence decisions we make?  Now, it has influenced my thinking when I’ve been making decisions.  And I don’t make decisions for myself.  The decisions I’m making are for a community ultimately.  We were just making a decision on—for instance, we’ve been moving some of our real estate assets around in different things.  And in the process, we’re looking at—I don’t want to get into a lot of detail on this, but we’re looking at if we sell this as opposed to this, when the hard times come, we can actually house a pastor’s family, or two families in one unit, if we keep this house and not this one.  And that’s how I have to think in the decisions we’re making.  So, the right decision begins to be one of preservation, continuation of the ministry; amen?  These are the kinds of thoughts that dictate us rather than proper portfolio thoughts of diversification.

Are we content to now go back to multiple families living in certain units?  Because let me tell you something.  If one of these groups gets elected, they’re coming after the church.  The biggest untapped source of finance in the United States is the church.  They’ve already stolen all the Social Security money.  All of you that are on Social Security, there is no money.  The debt to Social Security is in the hundreds of millions.  And there’s no hope of recovery.  There just mathematically isn’t.  So, what do we do if this thing goes bust?  Rather than trying to hedge against—the market is at all-time highs.

Gold is $2,600 an ounce.  We have all of this going on.  What about when it goes bust?  What goes up must come down.  It’s going to happen.  There has to be an economic collapse or there’s nothing for the Antichrist to do; amen?  We don’t need an Antichrist.  How is he going to get any power?  How is he going to get any place if he doesn’t solve this great worldwide economic crisis?  So, it’s going to happen.  Am I going to be better off, ultimately, trying to hedge myself against the collapse, or change my heart to be content?  Which one do you think will do us good in the long run?

So, we have to change our thinking, our way of thinking, our minds.  What do we do with what we have now in the fat cow period; right?  We’re living in the fat cows, but the Bible makes it very clear that just like in Genesis, in those days, these seven skinny cows are going to come and devour the fat cows (Genesis 41).  Everything that was in abundance will be eaten up and more.
