You Are All the Types of Ground

Scripture: Mark 4:3-20
Devotional Series: The Integrity of God's Word
Teaching: The Integrity Of God's Word pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-06-13) by Pastor Star R Scott

These people that are of a wayside heart; you don’t have any one person who totally has a wayside heart or a stony heart.  The reality is these conditions, at different times, dwell in all of us.  Sometimes our hearts are the wayside and sometimes our hearts are stony and sometimes our hearts are full of thorns and thistles and the Word of God is choked out of us, as the Scripture says.  Don’t go examining your heart trying to say, “Which of these am I?”  You’re all of them!  The parable is saying you need to do something about your heart; it needs to be changed.  The great prophet, talking about the revival that was to come, tells us that there’s a necessity of breaking up the fallow ground because it’s time to seek the Lord.  I would say, at this time that we’re living, it’s time to seek the Lord.  I would say, that in this time we’re living, it’s time to break up fallow ground, any part of our lives that may have crusted over.  We need to prepare the soil of our heart to readily receive the seed, the Word of God, so that we can be conformed into the image of Jesus, and even more as we see the day approaching, praise God!

This parable goes on so clearly to tell us, as we see what the men of God have spoken for centuries, that the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches and the lust of all other things will choke this Word out of your heart.  It is difficult for rich men, in a time of ease, to get to heaven.  Those commentary statements that I made, we need to be aware of in this hour.  The love for the Word of God, not for understanding, for application.  “How can I be more of a doer of the Word of God?”  We asked it, and have been asking it for years, but in some of these sessions.  What changes have we made?  How has the Word of God changed us, recently, to see the old man diminish, putting on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness?  It doesn’t happen by osmosis.  There aren’t “lucky ones” in the kingdom.  “Boy, he’s lucky!  He just got a special squirt of grace today.”  God is sovereign.  God uses us differently, some used mightily, but it has nothing to do with their natural abilities or their personal character, per se; it has to do with their availability.  Where God, in His sovereignty, can place any one of us at any time, us Gideons, to be used for His glory; amen?  Break up the fallow ground.

“Who shall I send?”  “Here am I, Lord, send me,” hallelujah!  Have you put yourself up on the altar?  “Well yeah, back in 1986 I just surrendered everything to the Lord.”  So, He hasn’t needed you since 1986?  Now everything doesn’t have to be grand or spectacular for God to be using you or to be living in the supernatural.  The trip to Africa that we could look at, and show how spectacularly, how supernaturally God has provided for us and sustained us in that outreach.  It’s miraculous!  That you might understand how miraculous it really was, as lives are changed and called and the many things that He’s ordered.  So, continue to pray for that outreach.

A little bit off track, but we’re just praying and believing for people to be touched in our midst right now.  I know as I’ve been praying, of course I don’t want to leave anybody out.  But just as it quickly goes through my mind, I’ve been praying for different needs both physically and emotionally.  Different areas.  I’ve been praying for Steph at this time.  Just warring in the heavens on her behalf for that great joy and peace that is hers to manifest itself.  The times, right now, of heaviness, they’re natural.  It’s not a lack of faith or that we’re not living in the Spirit, it’s the course of life.  But God’s grace is sufficient; amen?  We just lift those hands up.  I’ve been praying for Bill at this moment, in that immediate war with the cancer.  The prognosis being anything but good when someone begins to tell you you’ve got months left.

So often a man that’s alive in the Spirit can bring along a grace and a communion that can sometimes be the best times of your life in the presence of God.  Praying first for that healing and then for that grace and that revelation knowledge.  That he can begin to live up in the heavens and know those visitations with God as we approach our great reward, praise God!  Or see the hand of God leave him [here] for the rest of this generation because, beloved, our faith says we don’t have months.  Our faith says we live as though Jesus is coming today, praise God!  We don’t wait for months to change into more Christlikeness, we do it today, praise God!
