Dwell According to Knowledge

Scripture: 1 Peter 3:7
Devotional Series: Husbands
Teaching: Husbands pt. 4 (SUN_PM 2024-08-11) by Pastor Star R Scott

Amen!  The Lord is good and His mercies endure forever.  Hallelujah!  We’re studying God’s revelation to us of His purpose for man to be blessed, to have a helpmeet, to be able to join with this help meet and put 10,000 to flight; amen?  One of the main reasons for marriage is for that unification and that biblical principle of multiplying, two are better than one.  We’re having these opportunities for that to manifest in enhancing the kingdom of God, putting forth the kingdom of God in our generation, from the biblical admonishment we have, we’re allowing ourselves to come together for that very purpose.  One of the things that happens, though, is young people get married, and then they want to just kind of isolate themselves.  Instead of increasing the ministry of the church, they diminish it.  We realize, then, that this is a very important aspect of our ministries, so we thank God for that opportunity.

First Peter 3:7, “Likewise ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”  That your prayers be not hindered.  We see this unity, this ability to put 10,000 to flight.  One of the ways we’re able to do that is our singleness of heart and mind as we are agreeing together in prayer; amen?  Believing God to give us wisdom, believing God to give us strength.  One of the things we’ll see, too, in marriage is you’re going to be spending a lot of time in prayer about your children and instructing of the children.  How to raise the children up in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord.  There’s not always going to be agreement as to how this should be done.  We need to approach this, as we’ve seen, with a meek heart, submitting ourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Men, we’ve been emphasizing this point over and over and over.  We have reports back from the different home groups and we had a lot of great home groups.  The fruit of it, the great miracle of what God’s done here in our lives, of us being a generational ministry, three to four generations.  Not just people that are hanging out here because it’s the old Methodist Church and Dad built the steeple.  We’re here because we believe the same doctrine.  We’re here because we have the same Lord.  We’re here because we believe the Word of God; amen?  This is the unification that we have, but generational.  It goes from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and it’s a miraculous thing.  Our children are taught and we understand this is a Bible principle.  We’re not to be pulled apart as a church, as a community, with this child running off to university or chasing every new job or every new title.  We’ve had people, here, over the years, who have turned down advances in their vocation.  Six figures, and turn it down so they can stay in this community and raise their kids in the place they were raised.  Have the same people speaking into their children’s lives that spoke into their lives.  I think we ought to thank God for that; amen?  Where do you get that?  At what price can you get that?  We’re just so thankful for God allowing us to walk in this revelation, this light of His Word.
