Hearing by the Word

The problem we have in our country, today, is that most evangelical churches—I mean there are some tremendous ministries where you can learn the Word of God, great teachers. Great teachers. The only problem is it almost appears as though the Word has become an idol. An idol, a man-made entity being studied for study’s sake, being studied so that we can appear to be more spiritual or more knowledgeable than others, studied to win arguments, and that’s not what the Word is for. The Word is the very living breath of God that imparts faith into our lives; amen? “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). If we are a hearer of the Word and not a doer, we are deceived, and what a disaster when your light becomes darkness.
So, we see in so many churches, today, bibliolatry. Bibliolatry, a worship of the Word rather than obedience to the Word. The Word for knowledge. The knowledge of the Word brings false comfort to people if they’re not a doer. Because where real life comes from, where real faith comes from, where the ability to stand comes from is by reason of use. We’re doers, we’re proven in it, we’ve taken this Word like David did and rejected all of the world’s wisdom and said, “Here’s what I’ve been proven in, the Word of God.” Amen? “The world has said all of these things, and I’ve chosen to believe the wisdom of God, and He is my deliverer and my very present help in trouble,” hallelujah!
So, as we look at Deuteronomy, and we see these admonitions to go to the Word. Draw all of those blessings that were just being spoken of, the wisdom of God. He goes on and says, “Isn’t this our wisdom before the nations.” Amen? This is our wisdom before the nations. They don’t know what to do with us through the history of the church. What do you do with people who aren’t afraid to die? What do you do with people who will not bow their knee to your idols? We hear by the Holy Spirit, here: they fear us. And the world fears true Christians, today, and that’s why they’re going to want to kill us and get us out of the way, so they can accomplish what they’re wanting done. Make sure you keep that as something that’s prominent in your mind. Everybody you want to go out there and possibly network with, and you actually trust some of those people? I don’t trust any of them as far as you can throw them. I don’t trust anybody that doesn’t know Jesus as Lord, and it takes faith to trust half of them.
We’re standing, here, and watching how bizarre our country has become. I just saw the guy that Kamala has chosen as a running mate, and I can see one good thing: he seems to be as big a jerk as Trump, so maybe he’ll draw some of the jerk points and get a little heat off of Trump. It’s sick, these are insane people. Now, stop and think. It’s not good and evil, it’s evil and evil. They’re the world, all of their methods on both sides are anti-Christ; amen? “Oh, those Democrats, they’re such crooks, and they’re liars.” And the Republicans aren’t? We know there’s a lesser of evils, and we’d prefer to go that way. But our trust is in the Lord.
