Bone of My Bone
Scripture: Genesis 2:21-23Devotional Series: Husbands
Teaching: Husbands pt. 2 (WED 2024-08-07) by Pastor Star R Scott
God said man needed a helpmeet. So, God puts Adam in a deep sleep, and as he slept, “he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said— now, this is important when we’re talking about marriage here—And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (Genesis 2:21-23). We know further on in the Scriptures, the woman was made for the man, not the man for the woman; amen?
From the very beginning it was so. We’re going to see judgment come on Eve later, and that her delight is to be in her husband, but prior to the fall, God created man and gave him this helpmeet, and she was taken out of man. We’ve shared this is why, men, it’s so important that we appreciate the great gift that God has given us in our wives, so that we can wholly approach life. Because if we’re not drawing from this feminine perspective that was removed from us, we’re missing a lot of observations. As they’re observing particular issues in life, they’re coming from a different slant. There’s a tendency to have more of an emotional slant. There seems to be an intuitiveness that women have that men don’t draw on. It’s within us both, we know, we’re talking about the aspect of it being more prominent or dominant based upon our gender. I’ve seen many times, in the years, I know trying to draw on the wisdom of my wife. I’ve been fortunate to have wives that were raised up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Wives full of the Holy Ghost, wives that are 100 percent committed to the kingdom of God first, and many of you have that same blessing, and you should say, “Praise God,” for it.
But letting her fulfill her role and speak into your life and give you that other perspective. I know I’ve seen it happen another time, my wife would say, “You’d better watch out for that person,” and I’m like, “What? Everything looks good, it’s all fitting together logically. They look good, smell good, whatever.” “No, there is just something not right.” Now, we can put if off on the discerning of spirits, or we can realize that there is an intuitiveness within woman which is not innate from woman, it’s the Spirit of God that’s using that part of His creation, man, to be able to sense and see some of these things. That’s been taken out of us a lot, men, and we need to be able to listen. “Oh, that’s stupid, that’s not logical, it doesn’t make sense, the forensic evidence isn’t there,” and the wife’s right. I’ve seen it a lot of times; I wouldn’t pooh-pooh that when it’s taking place in your life, regardless of how much forensic evidence you might have. At least listen and give it consideration; amen? And that’s a wise man.
