Are Signs Following You?

Teaching: Preparing For Persecution pt. 3 (SUN_AM 2021-04-18) by Pastor Star R Scott
Looking at the book of John, we can see the power and the effect that the demonstration of the supernatural had on the masses of people coming and believing that Jesus was the Messiah from the signs and the wonders that they were seeing; the healings. We need to reach our community in these last days, beloved, and the Lord wants to work in our midst. God wants to show Himself mighty. Signs and wonders should be something normative that’s going on here in His church. We’re going to have put some effort into praying for that. We’re going to have to put some effort into living lives of faith. We have the wrong thought process if we think that faith is reserved for being inside these four walls. That when we come in here, then, we believe for miracles. We’re believing for miracles out there. “These signs shall follow them that believe; in my name” (Mark 16:17); amen? They shall. That’s you. That’s every member of the church. The elders, they all have their position as they’re out in society, of letting God use them in whatever way, in whoever’s lives they contact. But you’ll notice the emphasis, as it refers to the elders, is this, “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil” (James 5:14). This ministry of miracles and healings is your ministry to be done out in the highways and the byways. In the supermarket when you’re standing in line, six-feet away from the person in front of you who’s afraid to even let you come near them. To get them to let you lay hands on them, is going to be God; amen? “The Bible says that I can lay my hands on you and you’ll recover.” “You aren’t touching me.” “Then you aren’t recovering.”
But as we’re sharing the gospel, “Would you like me to pray for you?” I was sharing awhile back that when it was cold weather, I was walking in the mall. And I was just asking the Lord, “Lead me.” The Holy Spirit would lead me into a certain store and whoever was working in there, and I would just come in and say, “The Holy Spirit led me to come in here and ask if there is anything that you need prayed for in your life. Are you hurting? Do you need prayer right now? God sent me in here to pray for you.” The majority of the people would say, “Well, thank you! As a matter of fact, there is some situation.” Boy, you talk about opening the door for sharing the gospel then; amen? “Me coming in here isn’t natural. This is supernatural. God sent me here, the living God. And I’m going to pray for you in the name of Jesus. And did you know that Jesus was raised from the dead by the Father after He had paid for your sins on the cross? And that He’s the one that sent me here and said that whatever I ask in His name, He would do it, that the Father would be glorified?”
Are we being prayerful? Are we being sensitive? Are we on offense when we put on this armor of God? We say that we’ve been filled with the Holy Ghost. The fact that you speak in tongues is the initial physical evidence but it’s not the only evidence. The fact that you are still filled is evidenced when we love one another and move in the power to be witnesses. “Let us go out and manifest these signs and wonders…by the name of thy Holy Child, Jesus” (verse 30).
