God Built the Woman

Scripture: Genesis 2:22
Devotional Series: Wives
Teaching: Wives pt. 2 (SUN_AM 2024-09-01) by Pastor Star R Scott

God said it’s not good for man to be alone.  I’m going to make him a helpmeet.”  There was all of the naming of the creatures and all of those things, and there was not a helpmeet that was found for him.  So, God put Adam to sleep and removed from him the rib.  “And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man” (Genesis 2:22).  There’s something interesting about the word, “made” that is used there.  It’s a Hebrew word, and it’s pretty strong.  Instead of “made,” the word really means “built, to build.”  The reason that this gives us a little bit more to look at is that there has to be a design to build something.  There has to be personal involvement.  There has to be attention to detail.  In other words, ladies, He made you exactly what He wanted you to be; amen?  God took time, purpose, and personal involvement to make you exactly what you’re supposed to be.  So, women, you can never resent the role that you’re in like so many in society do today; amen?  There are a lot of women who despise it and refuse to recognize that that is their role.

We see it in society today.  There are all of these foolish expressions where we’re trying to do away with the concepts of male and female.  We want to have a unisex environment.  We’ve seen it expressed in so many ways today.  The Olympics just ended.  We saw it in the Olympics, didn’t we?  They want to allow a man to fight a woman.  I mean, the foolishness of it!  There’s that swimmer, a man that’s going around beating up on all the women in these swimming events.  It’s foolishness.  You have this transgender stuff.  If you’re going to even partake in that foolishness, this is the answer to all that dilemma.  It’s so simple.  You have a man’s sport, you have a woman’s sport, and you have a transgender sport.  If you’re even going to entertain that foolishness, it’s so simple, isn’t it?  We know that the Bible says, “Male and female created he them” (Genesis 5:2).  We know from the scientific perspective that it’s not about gender.  We understand, from all of the knowledge that we’ve accumulated from a scientific perspective, that it’s about chromosomes, XX and XY.  That’s all that has ever been.  It’s all that exists today.  It’s all that will ever be.  So, we as Christians find it pretty simple.

But it’s not always so simple when we come into our marital roles.  It’s the natural tendency of those of us who are not committed to the Word of God, those of us who still have a strong hold on the worldly view instead of the biblical view.  We still have women who are in the church, women who are carnal in their Christianity, wanting to walk in this new “enlightened” role of equality.  The Scripture goes back and makes it very clear to us that God’s intent was always for man to be in the role of leadership and authority.  Scripture is very clear that the woman was made for the man, not the man for the woman.  That’s simple for us to understand.  Now, we have to get this down into practical, daily living.  What does this look like in our marriages?  What does this look like in our homes?  How do we recognize and fulfill the roles that each of us have?

For those of us who are long-time married, the Scripture is so beautiful in its revelation.  We will look at that in just a moment.  This desire, this love, this passion, and this appreciation of worth in roles should never diminish.  They should grow stronger; amen?  I think many who have been married for a long period of time lose that passion, that compassion for their role as the weaker vessel, or that role of headship, that role of leadership in their lives.  I think that it would be good in this study, as we look at the husband’s role and the wife’s role, to stir that up.  This is something that must be grasped if we are going to have faith in anything.  If we’re going to have faith to be a godly wife, then what will we have to do?  How do we improve our faith?  How do we increase our faith?  It is by the Word of God; amen?
