Let God Be True

Scripture: Romans 3:4
Devotional Series: Wives
Teaching: Wives pt. 2 (SUN_AM 2024-09-01) by Pastor Star R Scott

It is good to be in His presence, we are a blessed people.  I was spending a little time with my brother; it was a very interesting thing to be in environments that we’re not used to being in.  To see the futility of life, the discouragement, and the fear of what is coming in our lives and in this generation.  There is a hopelessness as this life, which is a vapor, begins to take its last few moments of vaporizing.  Aren’t you glad we have that eternal hope?  We have the knowledge of our sonship, the knowledge that we are beloved of the Lord, and the knowledge that He calls us His own.  Hallelujah!

I was able to share that.  It was one of the last things that I shared with them as we were leaving their home, the assurance we have of our eternal lives.  She still clings to her Catholicism, wondering whether works are sufficient and where they stand.  I was able to remind them again that there’s only one name under heaven whereby we can be saved.  That is that great and mighty name of Jesus; amen?  We were able to share many different things, but there is another thing to be so thankful for.  They are making an effort.  My brother is being converted to Catholicism, and I just continue to bring him back to the Word of God.  We had a couple of great opportunities.  I did not attack the Roman church, but I just continued to speak about what it was, the finished work of Jesus accomplished for us, and our need to trust entirely in the truth of the Word of God.  They are just about to finish their little study of going through the Bible in a year.  They included in that the Apocrypha, so I was able to share a little bit about that.

As we were talking, they would speak, make a comment, and say, “Do you remember in the Bible when ‘this and this’ happened?”  I would stop, and I would say, “I don’t think that’s in the Bible.”  “Oh, yes!  We were watching it on The Chosen.”  And I said, “Well, let me remind you that The Chosen is just something that’s a drama, and there’s so much humanism.  There’s so much that Hollywood put into this.”  I said, “Let me show you what the Scriptures say about that occurrence,” and I took them to the Bible.  They looked, and they said, “Really?”  And I said, “Yeah.”  There was one good thing, though.  She said, “Thank you for correcting me.”  And I said, “Well, you’re welcome,” and I was able to do it on numerous other occasions.  I just continued to remind them that this Word is truth; amen?  It is our foundation.  Thank God that we’ve been blessed by the Lord to become part of a family that is seeking the truth, recognizing there is no truth outside of the Word of God.  “Let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).

That pertains to the subject that we’re dealing with.  We want to talk about the wives’ duty from a biblical perspective, not a twenty-first century, American perspective.  The average wife today does not come close to resembling the biblical wife and the role that every one of you is expected to fulfill and to walk out to the glory of God.  There is perversion in our society today of destroying the order of God.  Whether it is the order of the child’s role in the home: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord” (Ephesians 6:1).  Amen?  It’s very clear.  It is to bring them long life.  Today, we see anarchy in society.

Nobody is being held accountable for their behavior. Unfortunately, on one of our flights—and we have been having way too many of them lately—we had this bratty, little child.  We watched the parents just sit by and do nothing.  Thank God for iPods; amen?  Thank God for worship music.

This little brat continued to make all kinds of noise.  It just brought to mind again that satanic attack on the family where the disorder of children is being worshipped, idolized, and catered to.  It’s breeding weakness into them, supposing that they’re owed.  Thank God that we’ve been able to see our children raised in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord; amen?  They are children who are obedient to the lordship of Jesus, children who have a reason to live beyond themselves, and it’s for the glory of God.  We rejoice in what you parents have been producing in the lives of your children, that godly seed, and that next generation.  As we continue in this study, I’ll just take a moment to commend all of you for jobs well done in the sight of the Lord.  Praise God!  It is so pleasing to the heart of God.
