Beware of Men
Scripture: Matthew 10:17Devotional Series: Where is My Fear?
Teaching: Where Is My Fear pt. 4 (WED 2024-05-29) by Pastor Star R Scott
The next biggest thing in the church today is psychology. It’s amazing how much of the church today has bent their knee and bowed before this doctrine of “Christian” psychology. There is no such thing. Christianity and psychology are as far apart as you could possibly get on the spectrum. One deifies itself as God and the other is God.
Because of that, so much is emphasized today to bring peace. People want to have a better understanding of why this torment is upon them. Psychology will tell us if we change our environment, we can change, then, the consequences of our life. Let me remind you that it’s out of the heart that these things proceed, not the environment; amen?
Sinners are not made. They’re created. They are born sinners. Man is born a sinner in conflict, in adversity, with God. What I wanted to share with us is this, as we’re looking at the fear of God: if you fear God, you will not fear man! Therefore, we are absolutely free to live and preach this gospel anywhere and everywhere we go, regardless of what society is telling us, regardless of what your employer is telling you. Our God said, “Go into all the world and preach this gospel.” And you’re going to be hated for it; amen? It’s what we just read here and now we have to make a choice. Am I willing to be hated? Am I willing to be the guy that everybody is talking about at the water fountain?
Who are we? Are they going to begin to mock me? “Well, I work with these guys. These are all good people.” If they are not born-again, they’re your enemies. You just haven’t seen their tactics expressed yet. But if we get righteous enough, if we get holy enough, if we get bold enough, if we will not compromise in our words and in our life, we're going to believe Jesus over what they think. “Well, Pastor, I don’t know. I’m the guy that works with them.” Let’s see it again. It’s red ink. Okay, it’s red ink. “I’m giving you power. I’ve given you authority. I commanded you to go out.” Matthew 10:17, “Beware of men, beware of men. You’re going to be brought before authorities.” They could be civil authorities. They could be the authorities of the programs that you’re working for. It goes on and He says they could even deliver you up to the councils for these words. Did you ever think that words would become as big an issue as they are in our society today?
It’s unbelievable, you can’t say anything. In addition to not being able to say anything, words don’t mean anything anymore. They’re making them up. It’s humorous; it’s sad. How great is that darkness! A people who have embraced the god of this world, that have a vocabulary of their own, a truth of their own. They have a wisdom of their own. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Amen? They have a wisdom of their own. But their wisdom is earthly, sensual, and demonic. If you embrace the foolishness, the lie of psychology, and I’m not just talking about going and laying on the couch. I’m talking about it as an ideology, as a true science, as a solution to men’s problems. If you’ve bought that lie, you’ve bought into the wisdom of the world. It is earthly. It is sensual, and it is demonic.
