The Word Was God
Scripture: John 1:1Devotional Series: Where is My Fear?
Teaching: Where Is My Fear pt. 4 (WED 2024-05-29) by Pastor Star R Scott
Glory to God! The Lord’s good; amen? We’re going to continue along the lines of the subject that is so vital for this hour that we’re living in, that seems to be lacking so much in the church today, and that’s the fear of the Lord. The reason there is no longer the fear of the Lord is because the church has created another Jesus, and He’s not scary at all. This new Jesus that was created will take you just like you are, and leave you just like you are, and love you anyway, and everybody gets to go to heaven. That’s the new Jesus. That’s the popular message being preached today.
I love the title of a sermon that was just preached. I was listening to one of Jimmy Swaggart’s guys who teaches Old Testament Survey at their Bible college. He’s one of their Hebrew and Greek teachers, and he taught a message and entitled it, “Don’t Give Me the New Time Religion.” Give me that old time religion; amen? I’m not interested in a new Jesus.
Jesus can be presented in many different ways. The Bible says many are going to come in this last day saying, “I am the Christ.” It’s been going on for a long time, but how do we identify the real Jesus? Through the revelation of the Word of God, because God and His Word are one; amen? Jesus is the Word of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Hallelujah! When Jesus speaks, everything that He says will be in direct correlation and agreement to this written Word.
There is no mistaking what the will of God is. The will of God is keeping His commandments. That’s the will of God for you and your life. So many people ask, “What’s the will of God?” This is the commandment that I write unto you, “Love God. Love one another. Keep His commandments.”
In Matthew 10:7-8, we see that there’s the recognizing of the twelve and they’re sent out with great power and authority. They’re doing signs and wonders, preaching the kingdom of God, moving in great power. We’re coming into a day when, I think, we’re going to begin to see signs and wonders, many signs and wonders, and many of them will be lying signs and wonders. So don’t get all caught up in miracles or miracle-workers. “Oh, I’ve heard there’s a guy over here, and this is happening and that’s happening.” Maybe they are. Who’s getting the glory? “Why look on us, as though by our own power or our own righteousness, our own abilities, we healed this man” (Acts 3:12)? "Let it be known unto you that Jesus of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God has raised from the dead, it’s His name and His name alone, that salvation comes, that miracles manifest."
As we enter this time, we must we must be jealous for the glory of God. God needs to be made big in the environment that we live in. When you go to work, make God big; amen? There are no excuses for you and me not to be that light that’s on a hill, shining in the mission field that God has sent you to. God did not give you a job so you could live in luxury. He gave you a job so you could minister to that segment of society that’s lost and needs a savior. That’s why you go to work.
Everything we do, we do as unto the Lord; amen? It’s so vital. We’ve got to make sure that our minds are focused, in this last hour, on the eternity. The devil has people so busy today, they’re in a tizzy. They don’t know which way they’re going. Well, let me get it to Bible, “Labor to enter into that rest;” amen? Get out of all of this busyness that’s going on today and get quiet before God.
