Love as You’ve Been Loved
Scripture: John 13:34-35Devotional Series: The Good Shepherd II
Teaching: The Good Shepherd pt. 2 (SUN_PM 2024-04-28) by Pastor Star R Scott
As we follow this Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples, the books we’re making available to pastors are doing just that. They may be full-time pastors, but they are being discipled. Discipling is just teaching and preparing; amen? It causes us to produce more for the kingdom of God. This is discipleship. What a great opportunity it is!
I believe we will reach about 75.000 pastors soon, after the next trips to Indonesia and Africa. Can you think about that for a moment? Just pause. These numbers go by, and we do not think about them for one moment. What can 75,000 pastors accomplish that they are not accomplishing right now? Hallelujah! If they all only reach one, if their lives are changed, if one word, one statement, or one truth comes out of any of those books and hits one pastor in the heart, changes his vision, changes his knowledge of the Scripture, or enables him to reach one more person, it is all worth it. Praise God! If they only reach one, then 75,000 people are prepared for the coming of Jesus in a way they never were before.
We must care. You have all been so faithful to care over so many years. Lives have been reached and are going to be reached. What do you think the enemy will use to try to stop that? He will use any way possible to get you caught up more in your life, to put yourself first. I want to make this statement. I am surely not saying this is something that we should not do. I am just making a point. What do you think? It is not only this recent week we went through. What do you think we spend on vacations in a year, as a congregation? Did you ever think about it? It may be hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars. What if all of that went into outreach? Remember, I am not saying we should necessarily go that way. I am just making the point that we could do it. If we ever get to a place where our commitment to ourselves becomes more meaningful than the goodness of God being expressed through us, the enemy’s kingdom begins to win. We do not have to change anything. As a fellowship, I believe we are living balanced and godly lives. But, how many of you feel like you could do more for the kingdom? Is there anybody? Give time, money, you name it; amen?
That was like an old-fashioned altar call. “Anybody who feels like you could do more, come to the front!” And you fill the altar up, and everybody prays. We stopped having altar calls because people began to get more confidence in the moment, the call, and the emotions than they did in having faith in God. It does not mean we will not have them again. We were never overboard as it was. I am trying to help us understand that the body ministers one to another. Every time a brother or sister comes to admonish you, that is an altar call; amen? Any time a brother or sister comes and brings you a word in season, that is an altar call. That is an encounter with God. Have your altar calls in your prayer closet and offer yourself to Him.
