Go Up in Kindness

Scripture: Titus 2:6-7
Devotional Series: The Good Shepherd II
Teaching: The Good Shepherd pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2024-04-28) by Pastor Star R Scott

God will always minister to us in whatever state we’re in with love and gentleness and kindness; amen?  Oh, there will be chastisements at times in our lives; but the grace is there, when we fall, to rise up seven times.  Where do you think that comes from?  Without that grace of God, that condemnation would come in, self-condemnation, sometimes a resentment for God, but there is grace that gives us hope.  It gives us strength.  It causes us to realize, in the midst of all adversities, that God is good and His mercies endure forever, hallelujah!  So, we have that imputed righteousness, and then there is that current manifestation of the practical righteousness and goodness that should manifest itself through us.  It comes as we give place to the Scriptures.  It’s all profitable and it is all for the purpose of bringing the man of God to perfection and making him thoroughly furnished, thoroughly furnished unto all good works—that new man created in Christ Jesus unto good works, hallelujah!  We are created in Christ unto good works and that’s what we rejoice in.

Titus gives us insight into that aspect.  Titus says in Chapter 2, verse 7, as he is bringing forth the great revelation to us of the character of the church:  he talks to the aged men, the young men.  He is showing us what He expects of us and where He has placed us within the body of Christ.  It gives us great admonition as to how we relate to one another.  He finishes that admonition, verse 6, to the young men.  He says, “I want you likewise exhort to be sober minded.”  Exhort those young men to be sober minded, the apostle tells Titus.  “In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works…”  That is the admonition to those who are in positions of leadership who are gifted.

We stated earlier that principle that He says, “Be followers of those who through these works, through this lifestyle of consistency, those who through faith and patience have inherited the promises of God.”  I’m sure most of us do, but if you don’t, find somebody that you can identify this fruit in their lives, and emulate what God is working in them.  “You young men,” he says, “be sober minded.”  There is no place in the church for adolescent foolishness.  Sober mindedness means to have a mind that is set on doing righteousness.  The sober mind is a disciplined mind.  It is a saved mind.

We are living today in a world of foolishness, a world to where the Antichrist is piping and the world is dancing to his tune.  This generation is easier to approach and will even listen to you sharing with them.  The reason is, they are going to take what you say and just add it to all of the other gods in their life—no different than the Pantheon in Rome, no different than the Greeks.  They will listen to you.  Man, you are pouring your heart out, they’ll listen and whatever.  When you have left, they will take Jesus and possibly put Him right up there with Buddha and Allah.  Professing themselves wise, they are fools.

There is a generation that, because of the knowledge that is at their fingertips, has failed to realize that knowledge is not wisdom, and knowledge is not truth; amen?  But do you know what gets people like this when you have the opportunities?  Just keep going back.  There are some people, when I was able to get all those miles in walking, that I would see the same people around the same times.  Regardless of what their response was to the gospel when I shared it with them the last time, I’d approach them again and start on another subject.  No man can come without the Father’s drawing; amen?  So, we just go up in kindness; we don’t take personal rejection.
