Walk in Confidence, Rest in God
Scripture: 1 John 5:14Devotional Series: By His Stripes
Teaching: By His Stripes pt. 3 (WED 2024-03-20) by Pastor Star R Scott
Sin is a powerful force and that’s part of what I want us to see. Sin is so powerful. It not only affected man in his standing with God, but when sin was introduced through Adam’s rebellion, sin polluted the physical world. Sin is the cause of sickness and disease. We so limit our thinking, even as we’re talking about healing. Let me remind you that when you’re struggling with whether healing is in the redemption or not, this new heaven and new earth are under the redemptive process of God; amen? They were polluted. It took Jesus’ death to see this restoration of these worlds back to what God intended them to be.
Let me remind you: this new heaven and new earth will not be new atomic material. They will be redeemed atomic material. Our bodies, our resurrection bodies, we’re not going to get new atomic material—that is what all of creation exists in and from—it’s going to be redeemed. Our physical man will come into that place when, in the resurrection and the blood of Jesus, every atom in us will be made clean again, hallelujah! We will be pure again, in communion with God just like the first Adam was.
This redemption is powerful. Redemption will—as we see it coming through—affect governments. We don’t think about that, but I want you to understand something: the kingdom of God is in the process of manifesting itself through the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants. In the millennium period we’re going to see a new kingdom manifesting itself in preparation for the eternal kingdom, that ultimate kingdom will all be consequences of redemption; praise God! If it were not, and if all those things were started over afresh, then why wouldn’t God start us over afresh? His blood, His redemption, was so powerful that having been cleansed, washed, reconciled, they then become perfect (hallelujah!), without flaw, without blemish.
Why are we saying all of that? God, in His redemption, is invested in our physical man. It’s the only religion that deals with man’s body, his physicality. As sin begins to manifest itself—this is one thing, too, that I love—His creation was so perfect, yet sin was so powerful, and sin began to cause the deterioration in man. They still lived to be 900 years old. But we see a diminishing in it. Think about how powerful sin is and think about how long it took to affect man and how the creation itself resisted that power of disease and physical death. In fact, God actually kind of limited it Himself by setting a time period of threescore and ten, and 80 if you’re strong. Now we await the appointment, that day that God will remove breath from us. But many people believe that if it wasn’t for sickness and disease that man would then—what would cause them to die? Original sin causes you to die, not sickness. Original sin and the fact that the day of your death and my death is already appointed. That, in and of itself, should cause us to walk in a life of confidence and rest in God; amen?
