Don’t Believe in Your Faith
Scripture: Luke 22:42Devotional Series: By His Stripes
Teaching: By His Stripes pt. 1 (WED 2024-03-13) by Pastor Star R Scott
There’s a covenant between man and God that affects wholeness to man, spirit, soul, and body. We know the story, “Lord, I believe, help thou mine unbelief.” That’s good doctrine. Just like, “Not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42). “Help my unbelief.” Why am I in unbelief? Because I’m believing in my faith and not in God. I’m praying, I’m using, “in the name of Jesus,” I’m even sweating profusely. I’m screaming at this demon. Right? “In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, come out!” And the demon says, “I know Jesus, I know Paul; who are you?” We need to answer these questions: Where are the signs that are supposed to be following us? Now God, obviously, is in our midst because we’re His children and He loves us. But He will—as we just saw Him here with the disciples—upbraid us. We just saw a miracle yesterday. See, don’t blow that off. That which was seen yesterday fits right into this gospel or the book of Acts. Those miracles are no greater than that one. We sometimes over-exaggerate the Biblical revelation of miracles. We experience the same things and say, “Well, that’s just us.” They’re folks just like us, totally dependent of God. If God doesn’t show up, we’re in trouble!
We’ve got to understand, the price has already been paid; the provision is there. It’s already been done in Jesus; it’s already done in the heart and mind of God in eternity. It’s already happened. The miracle has already happened in God’s life. So, let’s rest in Him. Let’s understand, we’re not going to God and trying to get some kind of credibility in God’s eyes. He already loves us infinitely. He’s already redeemed us and called us His own. We, as His beloved children, are living far beneath what His provision for us is.
I almost said something about the Millennials, but I don’t want to condemn a whole generation. God wants us out of the basement. We’ve got a millionaire daddy, but it’s time to get out on your own. It’s time to experience some things. I was watching something that had Millennials and Gen X in a competition. In the midst of this competition, this one millennial was involved in this physical task, and it was beating the tar out of them, and said, “I’ve done this so many times on my computer, this is so much harder!” Well, many of us have done a lot of things on our computer, our Bible computer. We read the stories; we believe in them. “Go into all the world and make disciples.” Where are they? Basically, what we’re wanting to share is: there are benefits, privilege, fruit, waiting for us to go do something; amen? Get out of the boat. Stop being afraid. Share Jesus. Grab people by the collar and compel them to come, because the hour is at hand, “The night’s coming—it’s on us—when no man can work.” I’m not here to rebuke us. We’ve been experiencing so many great things. I’m here to encourage us with what God wants us to do, "Go preach the gospel." He’ll confirm His word with signs following (Mark 16:20).
Father, we thank you for Your Word and Your life to us. We ask that You would strengthen us, and that we would begin to grasp what’s available to us, in the power of God, in the promises of God, for the healing of our bodies, the salvation of souls. Father, that there would be an influx from these communities around us, in these last hours, that we can pull as brands from the fire. Open our eyes. Let us look on the multitudes with compassion. Lord, we believe. Help us to believe with a greater faith in You. We ask it, Father, in Jesus’ name, amen.
