Thy Word is Truth

Scripture: John 17:17
Devotional Series: Stand Up
Teaching: Stand Up pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-10-24) by Pastor Star R Scott

What a great revival that was in the times of Ezra and Nehemiah.  So many people, today, talk about a new and a great revival that’s coming to America.  I personally don’t believe that.  I know a lot of people do, but the Scriptures are very clear that in the last days there will be a great falling away.  Now, I know the other message is more popular.  God’s going to rush in and save America at the last hour, and there’s going to be a great revival, and America will come and be restored to its former glory.  Let’s remind ourselves that this Book that we hold in our hands, this Bible that we love, does not present to us the United States of America, but, in fact, the kingdom of God; amen?  Jesus was here to bring forth a great gospel message, the gospel of the kingdom of God.  The kingdom of God, the Scripture says, is not meat, it’s not drink, but it’s righteousness; it’s peace; it’s joy in the Holy Ghost.

This hour of the kingdom that you and I are living in—you remember, Jesus came, and when they were seeking Him at one point, “Lord, teach us how to pray,” He taught this great message. He said, “Pray this way, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10).  I want you to understand that one phrase just a little differently.  It’s saying the same thing, bringing the same truth, but as the Lord’s presenting the kingdom of God to us, He declares that we’re to pray for His will to be done.  Another way of saying that, what we want to emphasize is, “Thy Word be done.”  You see, in the post-modern church, the Word of God has been taken and pushed aside.  We know that great portions of professed Christendom--and I use that word “professed,” professed Christendom. Take the Roman church, for instance, and they hold tradition equal to the Word of God.  We realize, of course, that the Scripture says that anyone who takes from or adds to the Scriptures, let them be anathema.  In this hour, again, of subjectivity, of situational ethics, of post-modern thought to where there are no absolutes, there is no truth, remind ourselves that John 17 says, “Thy word is truth”; amen?  Period, praise God, there’s nothing else to say about it.

Regardless of what anybody is teaching, and more than teaching, and false teaching, would be false living.  Tragically, so much of the professed church today--should Jesus come at this very moment, and we believe that His return is imminent; amen?  The Lord can return at any moment.  The trumpet of God, the Bible says, will sound.  Hallelujah!  Many believe that that trumpet will be the voice of the Lord. So often in Scripture it’s referred to as a great trumpet blast.  On Sinai, we remember when the Law was given, and the trumpets were blasting, the people wanted to hide themselves from the very presence of God, the awesomeness of the presence of God.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus.  We live in a day when there is no fear of the Lord any longer.  Come, Lord Jesus.  Hallelujah!
