God’s Will For You
Scripture: John 6:40Devotional Series: Resurrection Life
Teaching: Resurrection Life pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-04-04) by Pastor Star R Scott
John 6:40 says, “This is the will of Him that sent me.” People always want to know the will of God. Well, the Bible says that His will for you is that you would be reconciled to Himself. He is not willing that any would perish; amen? Jesus died for all. That free gift, the Bible says, is unto all. Some people believe in a universal salvation, “God’s good, God’s love, ultimately everybody’s going to be accepted. Oh, I’m looking forward to seeing uncle Joe in heaven.” Joe isn’t there, and you’re not going either unless you make Jesus your personal Lord and Savior; amen? Our God is an awesome God. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God. It’s appointed unto all men once to die and after that, the judgment. You’d better not bring your own righteousness into that judgment. You’d better be able to stand before God with the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ, or you will experience the wrath of God. You will experience spiritual death. You see, physical death is nothing to be feared. It’s to be anticipated, looked forward to. Spiritual death is to be eternally separated from the love of God. The Bible says you’re cast into outer darkness into a lake of fire where there’s gnashing of teeth, where the worm dies not. I think the most horrendous thing the Bible reveals is that every remembrance of you will be erased. No one will ever know you lived. No one will care. “I’m going to go party with Joe in hell. That’s where Joe is.” Joe’s not going to know you. If he did, he’d bite you.
We know gnashing of teeth isn’t literally biting on people, it’s that hatred that’s looking for any opportunity to fulfill itself. What a tragedy! When God who knew you by name, He can call your name. He knows the hairs on your head. While you were a sinner, He loved you and died for you. He’s not willing that you would perish, and, yet, the multitudes reject Him because of their own pride, their own rebellion, self-will. God’s not willing that any would perish. Here’s the will of God. “And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Hallelujah! God’s desire for you is everlasting life. Everlasting life, eternal life, isn’t talking about time; it’s talking about quality. Everlasting life, eternal life, every spirit being is going to live forever. You only get to choose where you’re going to live. You can live with God, or you can live with the devil, the enemy of God, the one who established his own kingdom, the one who rose up in heaven and said, “I will ascend above the throne of God,” and God cast him to the earth. That being, Lucifer, who seduced Eve, after God said, “Don’t eat of that fruit. The moment you do, you will surely die.” They didn’t fall over dead. They died spiritually. They died in their relationship with God. They could no longer be in His presence, so they had to go outside the garden. Eternal death means you have to go outside the presence of God; no communion.
We need to get out and share this with folks; amen? Let them know Jesus died for their sins. He was made sin on that cross for their sin, that they might be made the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:10 that Jesus abolished death and brought life and immortality. Romans, Chapter 4:25 says, “That Jesus was delivered for our offense and was raised again for our justification.” Because Jesus is risen from the dead, you and I are justified, pronounced righteous, pronounced right with God. All of our sins are blotted out. There’s no record of anything you’ve ever done against God. If you will bow your knee and make Him Lord, that can be your personal experience.
