In the Twinkling of an Eye

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:52-58
Devotional Series: Resurrection Life
Teaching: Resurrection Life pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-04-04) by Pastor Star R Scott

After the resurrection, when Jesus appeared, at first, they thought it was a spirit.  They were a little bit taken aback.  He said a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bone.  He said, “Touch me.  Go ahead and touch me.”  He ate with them.  He drank with them.  In the new realm, life is in the Spirit.  Jesus is that life.  Jesus is that light, the Scripture says.

I was saying all that to say this, we’re having our memorial service tomorrow for our departed brother.  What a great day for the rapture; amen?  Any day’s a great day.  The rapture of the church, we have visitors here this morning, so I’ll just share very quickly, very succinctly.  The rapture of the church is when Jesus comes back in the air, and at that particular time before He brings the seven years of tribulation upon the earth, which is where you hear that number 666 and all that stuff happening during that seven-year period.  Before that happens, Jesus is going to come back in the sky, and He’s going to say, “Come up hither.”  The dead in Christ will rise first.  Now, think about that.  Do you have loved ones that know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior?  They’re going to burst forth out of those graves; amen?  Hallelujah!  They’re going to have a glorified body.  The Bible says mortality will take on immortality, and they’re going to burst forth out of those graves, and those of us that remain, the Scripture says, will be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.  This corruption will take on incorruption, and we will ascend together into the heavens, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Hallelujah!  Well, that’s called the Blessed Hope.  That’s what we’re looking forward to.

When I was thinking about our brother, all I could do was rejoice.  He, like many of us, was raised in a sinful world.  But he was born again and he did not depart from the faith.  Hallelujah!  None of us are guaranteed of getting home.  The Bible says there are numerous Christians that will defect and go back to the world.  Demas has forsaken us having loved this present world, Paul said; amen?  Many are going to depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.  False prophets are going to rise up.  But he made it home because Jesus is raised from the dead.  Hallelujah!  To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  The dead will rise and have a glorified body.  I don’t know how all that’s going to happen, but is anything too hard for the Lord if He could just speak everything into existence?  The things that are made have come from things that are not seen; amen?  These words were spoken, and the worlds came into existence.  It’s not going to be any problem to gather His people up wherever they are.  We’re going to receive a glorified body, immortal, eternal.  Hallelujah!  And so shall we ever be with the Lord.
