The Authority of the Word

Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17
Devotional Series: The Good Shepherd
Teaching: The Good Shepherd pt. 2 (SUN_PM 2021-03-07) by Pastor Star R Scott

Hallelujah!  Amen!  It’s great to make Him big.  Just to come into His presence and worship Him.  The Scripture says the Lord is enthroned upon the praises of His people.  It’s great to just lift Him up and show that thanksgiving, our hearts truly, truly just charged with the presence of God as we come before Him.  Let that peace, that joy, continue to sustain you through the rest of this day.

We’ve been emphasizing the authority of the Word of God, the power of God in this last hour, and how necessary it’s going to be for us to have that Word hidden in our hearts that we might not sin against Him, that Word that is a lamp unto our feet—and making sure that our paths are on the highway of holiness in this last hour, that we’re pursuing God down that very straight and narrow path (2 Thessalonians 2:1-17).  The problem in the church today is that we haven’t made the narrow road narrow enough, and the broad road broad enough; the contrast between walking and living in the Spirit and being in danger of being overcome by the apostate religious system.  There is no commonness that these two paths have together.

We need to be very careful, to know that we’re on that straight and that narrow path, remembering that the admonition to each and every one of us is “and few there be that find it.” One of the great problems in the church today is that we keep trying to get more people on that path that have not forsaken everything and followed Jesus.  He said, “If you don’t love Me more than all this stuff—listen to me, we hear this so much that it doesn’t have an effect on us.  If you don’t love me more than all this stuff—mothers, fathers, houses, wives, children, you name it—you are not worthy of Me.”  It’s a narrow passage.

The first and great commandment: “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart.”  How are you doing?  Does anything else have our affection?  Are we ready to pour ourselves out—our energy, our time, whatever else it is—for anything other than the kingdom of God?  We can’t afford that in this hour.  Amen?
