Believe God for Greater Humility

As it relates to Cain and Abel, one felt that the other brother was getting promoted more than him and being recognized more than him, so he kills him. What does the Scripture tell us to do? When one of us gets promoted, what do we do? We rejoice in that, praise God! Amen? Do we? What’s that little voice that comes in at times? Do you ever feel a twinge of envy? Do you ever let a little thought just maybe stay too long in our minds of, “Well, I’ve been watching them. They don’t deserve that. I’m doing a better job than they are. I’ve been faithful longer than they’ve been here. Why are they getting promoted? Why are they being recognized?” I love that parable, don’t you? “I’ve done you no wrong. You had no work. You had eternal damnation as your destination, and I hired you for so much, and you agreed. The fact that this man only worked one hour and gets the same pay that you got— You agreed to come on for this.” Amen? We want to compare giftings and promotions. “My brother’s receiving more attention than I am.” James speaks of that murderous spirit. Where’s that coming from? It’s the devil. Resist him, and he will flee from you; amen? Humility can be obtained. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. It’s the devil that keeps promoting you! The key is, what will you choose? It’s not going to go away. The devil’s torment, the devil’s fiery darts are not going to go away. There’s only one way to deal with them: the shield of faith; amen? We believe that God is just. We believe that what God is working in our lives at this time—it may seem to be a fiery trial that’s going to destroy you, but it’s only purifying you. Faith takes on these fiery darts, these lies of the devil, and says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Hallelujah!” When I come, will I find faith upon the earth? When I come will I find people that are humble, that are seeking first the kingdom of God? It’s something that has to be desired. It’s something that has to be sought. “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”
We need to be believing God for a greater humility and a servant’s heart. To be touched by the fruit in other’s lives and want to emulate more of those things. So, we need to believe God, but it’s not enough to just believe God. We need to pursue God. We need to draw nigh to God; amen? As we’re sitting here and we’re talking about this aspect of drawing nigh to God, it means we come in. It’s not just the hearing of the ear. We’re not just studying and learning more principles. We, like John, are laying our head upon His bosom. We can hear the heartbeat of Jesus. John had the heartbeat of Jesus: “Love one another.” Amen? “Little children, love one another. Love is of God.” Everyone that loves is born of God and knows God. Draw nigh unto Him. Do you want to contribute to the things that are lacking? Are you volunteering for the things where you’ll never be seen? Are you ready to be the servant that doesn’t receive any recognition in this life?
